LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOSS HANDOVER GIGANTIC PROJECTS AT THE COASTAL COMMUNITIES · AS RESIDENTS APPLAUD DEVELOPMENT · UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT CONDUCTS MEDICAL OUTREACH Residents at the coastal communities in Amuwo Odofin Local Government, has applauded the infrastructure development put in place in their domain, saying they have not witnessed such sweeping transformation in their locality for years, as exemplified by the Comrade Ayodele Adewale led administration. They made this assertion when the Executive Chairman of Amuwo Odofin Local Government, Comrade Ayodele Adewale handed over some projects executed by his administration to the coastal communities. Comrade Ayodele Adewale, while handing over the projects including LA Primary School, Itu Agan, Anglican Primary School, Tomaro/Ilado, Doctors lodge at Igbologun Primary Health Center and Igbologun Town hall to the communities declared, “The people have voted as we requested; we have come to redeem our pledge to do our best to solve some of the problems confronting them, adding, “The difference between us and other parties is that we perform while others lament their inability to translate promises to action”. The Executive Chairman said in embarking on such projects, the Local Government is conscious of the need to bring development to the rural communities in order to stem the tide of rural urban migration which, according to him, has created problems both locally and internationally. “If you have education, if you have healthcare, if you have water supply, if you have electricity, many of you want to live very simple lives with your families, and this is what we have set out to do, to provide what you want, to provide education, to provide primary healthcare centers, to provide integrated facilities”, the Local Government boss said. Also speaking, the Onilado of Ilado & Inagbe Island, HRM, Oba Mobadenle Oyekan thanked the Local government boss for providing the dividends of democracy to the governed. He appealed to the communities to take full ownership of the projects, saying they are key to their sustainability. Meanwhile, The United States Government has once again demonstrated its resolve to support Amuwo Odofin local government in improving the primary health sector. The United States Medical team from the United States Consulate in Lagos conducted its health outreach programme on Tomaro/ Onisowo Island. The health outreach involves height and weight check, blood pressure screening, glucose screening and awareness on other public health issues, such as, diseases prevention and personal hygiene, amongst others. Comrade Ayodele Adewale thanked the team for choosing the LG to continue to benefit from such noble programme, as it relates to the well being of the people. Dehab Ghebreab, the Acting Consular General, United States Consulate in Lagos who led the medical team to the island expressed satisfaction at the way the people of the community received them. She expressed hope that the outreach programme will go a long way to improving the health status of members of the community.
