I was thinking about Twin Peaks and True Detective in relation to Don Giovanni. Is evil its own force, like magnetism, or an absence like a vacuum, or another plane of existence intersecting with our own? Is Giovannis freedom illusory or is he just another in the thrall of the Yellow King or Bob? Was Cohles vision real or in his head? Is there a difference? What about Giovannis statue and Hell fire? The Red Room? Carcosa? Is evil merely an idea or something deeper that can be summoned by ritual and habit? Do we create the fiction because we cant stand looking at the evil within? To explain the unexplainable, yet ubiquitous horrors that we witness everywhere? Or, like Cohle, do we just want to hope that the light is winning? Consider while listening to this clip starting at 2:40:00. https://youtube/watch?v=hJXbt32TyCM
