I was thinking about a conversation I had with Stewart Goldstein - TopicsExpress

I was thinking about a conversation I had with Stewart Goldstein many years ago, . . . just after my grandfather passed away, . . . it was about remembering the way people lived their lives instead of how their lives ended ( it would seem kind of obvious, but at the time, it was what I needed to hear) I learned a lot from my grandfather about all sorts of things, . . .he was a machinist who used to work for the Bulova Watch company. I marveled at all the specialized metal tools in his wooden tool case; the taps and dies, micrometers, and handmade steel tools used to shape and fix watch parts, . . . my interest in coins, fine writing instruments, and optical devices comes from his influence. Its probably also why I like to watch close magic, when magicians manipulate coins and playing cards, . . . My grandfather was a pretty decent draftsman. He used to draw dinosaurs for me. Thinking back, I seem to remember that my two older brothers could draw pretty well too, . . . they just kind of lost interest in it as they grew up. Im kind of lucky I still get to do this.
