I was too emotional tonight to even talk to the boys after tonights win. (Im a big bawl baby!!!) So my post game speech will be posted here. So let your boys read this if they arent already members of this facebook group. Prior to the game, we told the boys we were proud of them, regardless of the outcome of the game. We told them that their goal for this game was to keep their heads held high and dont let ANYONE get down on themselves. Lastly, we told them to win the game for THEM and no on else!!! Its THEIR season and THEY are the ones in control of it. The result was incredible. Ive been a coach on Wolf Furniture for 6 years now and I never saw a group of boys put together a performance on the field, in the batters box and in the dugout than what I saw tonight. Not one time did a kid get down on themselves, because they knew there was work to be done. INCREDIBLE plays were made by Mason Stevens, Trae Stever and JJ Estep tonight. Tyler Becker and Zach Boslet continue to demonstrate leadership by example with their hitting, fielding and presence in our dugout. Aydan Summers has shown so much poise for a 10 year old who was thrust into the 3rd base position with very little time to prepare, yet he hauled in the game winning catch to end the game. Cam Mauk has shown that he can be a vocal leader on the team and has delivered some clutch hits when we needed them the most. Jacob Weigand, to me, has been an unsung hero for this team. Never playing as a catcher before this year, Jacob has not only learned the position on the fly, but has become a wall behind the plate. The job he has done back there has been outstanding. To Nate Cammarata, Brock Vancas and Sammy Colombo - in many ways Im proudest of you. You guys arent getting the playing time that I wish you could get, but to see you guys getting better and better in the batting cages and watching you cheer for these guys and keeping their spirits up throughout the game shows me that Wolf Furnitures future is bright. Lastly, Mason Auker. I was toughest on you last night because you gave up on yourself. I challenged you, more than anyone, to show up today and show the character and heart that it takes to be successful, not only on the field, but in life as well. So what do you do? Pitch four of the best innings in your life and shut out our opponent on only 49 pitches. Oh, and by the way, the 3 hits and 3 runs scored didnt hurt either. I, the coaches, your parents, your grandparents and all your other friends and relatives are very proud of you and what youve done this season. But are you done yet? I dont think you are. Tonight, Wolf Furniture became YOUR team. Win this championship for YOU!!!!!
