I was trying to protest against objectifying young girls (who just entered the field of technology) in some online forum, and as a result I became a mocking object there (which is fine, I am old enough to take that heat). Tried to keep my zen, tried to focus on the Act of discrimination, & not on the People who discriminate. People (men and women, younger, and older generation) keep thinking there is nothing wrong with humiliating girls, they think girls should take it as just FUN! And if the girls feel embarrassed, or offended, it is their fault that they cannot take a joke! I thought maybe people just retain their age old belief and it may take time to change their point of view. But there I realized, they actually KNOW what they are doing, and they do it intentionally, knowing that their comments will actually weaken the girls confidence. I will never understand the root of such sadistic attitude. Cyber bullying is just another form of bullying that girls face everyday. Less educated people make nasty comments on women walking past them on streets, whereas these so-called educated ones waste their gift of writing-reading-high speed internet- to humiliate girls, especially in some environment where they would become popular by such comments! I feel tired, disheartened, and sad when I see those people are not some radical extremist or illiterate mudheads, rather they are the cream of a nation! I wish they realized the consequences of their action. Now I am questioning myself whether I should have just ignored those people at the first place to keep my sanity. Since I have no hope, may now God show them the right path. (Reading some comments in that forum made me sick and I left the group without explanation, I think I should have given the reason to them before leaving..so here it is).
