I was walking down the street, downtown and I was approached by a little woman and her child, that were clearly homeless.... I started talking to her because I had missed the train (again)..... anyway... she didnt ask me for money or smokes or anything.... just was talking to me about the train and then about life.... still never begging for anything..... in the end, I gave this woman and her son enough money to get a motel room and get out of the shelter for at least one night. she started crying and just cried and cried..... that response told me what I did was the right thing to do. I have no doubt that she will use the money if not for a motel, for something for herself and son that she or he needs...... I feel best about myself and about life when I am able to help someone that actually needs it.
