I went into a pet store today and had to write this complaint on their facebook page: "I went to your store today. I would write this as a personal message but there is no button for personal messages unless I like the page. I understand your store sells rats as food but, they are still living things who deserve respect and care. I purchase rats as pets and know how they should be cared for. Your rats are crawling with mites, are not cared for properly, are fed badly, and some were bleeding from cuts they got from broken glass and holes inside the tanks. Even if I were purchasing them for a snake I would not want such unhealthy rats. Your store has a nice selection of fish and a few reptiles but, the rat care was very disappointing. Only one of your employees cared to change the tank where 5 babies and their mother were walking on broken glass from a hole on the bottom of their tank and covered from head to toe in mites. I hope their care can be improved and feedback is appreciated." It is so sad to see an animal be treated this way. The old local store we went to, called Parma Pets, closed down. It was amazing and the owner Tally understood that even though the rats were bred to mostly be eaten, they are living things who deserve care and respect. They understood and respected the circle of life. We are still trying to locate the great breeders who supplied for the store before it closed down.
