I went into my creative archives earlier tonight to seek out a poem that a friend wanted to read. Had to search through my blog wwwpearliesofwisdom.blogspot.ca to find the poem, which appeared in a blog post back in 2005. Yes, quite some time ago. The poem was published that year in a Canadian Jewish literary journal. It was my first appearance in that respected journal. I havent written a poem in a looooonnnnng time. I havent written in my blog in a loooooonnnnnng time. I do miss both..... Poetry was, once upon a time, such a huge part of my persona....my way of communicating my thoughts and observations, my memories, my loves, other peoples pain... I worked on inspiration and the poetry surfaced quickly and effectively. The inspiration hasnt been around for a while to write poetry or personal essays, but Im still inspired to hone my creative skills. I love commenting --- especially in a punny way on peoples FB threads or on Twitter; I love playing these creative mind games that people like comedian Elayne Boosler set out for her fans on her FB page, or the late-night hashtag games set out by @midnight. I love editing peoples words and creating bridges to their intended meaning. I love words. I love wordplay. I love the way other people play with their words Amy No Fracking Stiller comes to mind with her always-makes-me-smile streamofconsciousness posts; Galit Breen is a master with her use of language/imagery and the feelings that the combination evoke; Neil Kramer combines photography with dialogue to create scenes caught in time; Danny Miller brings to life entertainers and their entertainment with his words, or the everyday encounters of his that are actually larger than life. Sarcasm and humor go hand in hand with comedians Steve Bluestein and Cathy Ladman, giving me reasons to LOL. I could go on and on about the creativity and talents of all the people I read on FB and Twitter...and come to think of it, they provide me with inspiration to simply...smile.
