I went out with my family last night to see the new Noah movie, what a mistake. I do not recommend the movie. In my opinion, the movie was not just a Hollywood version of a biblical story. The movies director stated that it is the most un-biblical movie about a biblical story. I believe that it is much more than that. The movie embodied a great deal of the most contemptuous thoughts about the Bible and the Gospel floating around today. The movie was full of mythological overtones, from the snake skins that glowed and were used to transfer the blessing from one generation to another, to the “Transformer” looking rocks that were the bodies of fallen angels who were the actual builders of the ark. That’s just to name two. Most people who have contempt towards the bible believe that the stories are nothing more than mythology. In addition, Noah was portrayed as a mad man, who is convinced that God hates humanity and does not want man to be happy, so He is going to rid the earth of man. This is the constant argument of our day, the God of the Christians is an angry, judgmental, unjust God who really has no compassion towards humanity. The logical conclusion they want you to make is “How can anyone believe in such a God?” They took a biblical story and used it as a platform to preach their anti-bible, anti-gospel message. As I stated earlier, for whatever it is worth, this is just my opinion.
