I went past the field of the sluggard... I applied my heart to - TopicsExpress

I went past the field of the sluggard... I applied my heart to what I observed... (Prov 24:30-34) Here is another passage about laziness leading to poverty. The interesting part is the method of learning that is demonstrated. I saw something & learned a lesson from it. This is actually a very common method for God to speak to us & guide us. Throughout everyday life, the Holy Spirit is walking with us, & will tap us on the shoulder & say, Did you see that? Do you understand what is happening... But are we listening? Have we got the mental & emotional space to enable us to hear Him comment on what is happening around us? I have a suspicion that when we fill every minute of every day with never-ending, attention-grabbing information or entertainment, we dont have time to hear the still small voice of the Lord. This is one reason we need a Sabbath rest, to clear our hearts of all the clutter & sit & listen to what He is saying. Perhaps if the writer of Proverbs had driven past the field of the sluggard, racing to his next appointment with music blaring in his headphones, we may not have this passage today.
