I went shopping at the Big Bazar at the MPM Mall at Abids in - TopicsExpress

I went shopping at the Big Bazar at the MPM Mall at Abids in Hyderabad with my brother, Sidharth Soni. We purchased an electronic item which was priced at Rs.999/-. At the billing counter, the clerk promptly billed it, I paid Rs.1000/- and waited for him to return the one rupee. He said he doesnt have one rupee coin. I got very furious at this response of his and asked him if it would be alright if I pay one rupee less. He immediately borrowed one rupee from another billing counter and gave it to me. There are few things that I wish to share here. 1. These people will never return the change if we dont bother to ask them. 2. Very few people ask for that one rupee at the mall but keep bargaining with the roadside vegetable vendors for every single rupee. 3. I was determined to do a Nana Patekar at the mall if that guy had not returned me the one rupee. 4. I wonder how many one rupees these guys collect every single day and never bother to maintain the smaller currency. Isnt it a huge burden on the public? 5. We will have to be more vigilant in these things because the retailers have taken us for a ride for a long time now. We need to become intolerant towards this menace. My only request is that as a collective effort, this menace has to be tackled. Cadbury eclairs or hajmola or five star is not the solution here. It is one full rupee, our hard earned rupee. None of us would settle for a rupee less from the employer in our salary, then why a rupee more to the retailer?
