I went through the Huntington Bank drive thru at their 12th and Pittsburgh location located in Erie Pennsylvania. My best friend of 27 years wanted to deposit her check into her checking account. Thinking nothing of the teller asking where she got the check my friend answered from my employer. We received a letter with the deposit slip saying funds would not be available for 5-7 business days- which is understandable and normal procedure. 15 minutes after leaving the bank they called and said that the check was a fraudulent check and they sent it to their security team. My best friend called her employer to find out what was the problem, there was no problem. We headed back to the bank and after being told to take the check that they wrote fraud on to the Citizens bank to cash it where she would have to pay $7. I asked the manager to ask the teller what put up the red flags?? Was it because they did not believe a woman of Puerto Rican heritage wouldnt be capable of earning $4925.20? The teller lunged at me and forcefully took my phone saying she is recording and broke my phone screen. That is not due diligence that is assult at the very least. I have called corporate and the branch location that this happened at and have not heard back. I need my phone fixed, they also made me late and miss hours of pay for my job. I am very upset that my picture has been sent to a fraud department and made out to look like a criminal. I was going to open a business account with them but after reading the reviews on them and being treated like this I would never give them my business nor should anyone else. Belinda is the teller that broke my phone. I am still waiting to hear back from Ramona in regards to incident # 1756-21MAR14. Without our money they have nothing. Solidarity against Huntington.
