I went to an amazing party last night to celebrate an amazing mans 70th birthday. My uncle, Don Carpenter, married my wonderful aunt, Patricia Litavec Carpenter, 19 years ago. As I listened to the roast, I was reminded how fortunate I am to have such a close, loving, CRAZY family. I was also reminded of how awesome my Uncle Don is. He is very much like my dad was - so attentive and loving to everyone around him. When you talk to him, he makes you feel so loved and important. They both did everything to help anyone who needed it. They both never hesitated to cook and clean and do the dishes for our many big gatherings. They worked so hard every day to make a good life for their families. I cherish both of them. The party celebrated all of that. For our next party, remember: Hire the one man acoustic band, Josh Holmes. Not only was he fabulous, he said hed play for free at the next party because he loved our family so much! Have everyone prepare their speech/roast. Lets just say that pubic speaking is not a strong suit which is why I remained seated. Lots of tears, beautiful sentiments, and evidence of a need for therapy! My sister, Linda Miner Lewis. The selfie queen, the life of the party. I wish I had half of her social skills. She cracks me up! Each and every one of my close family and friends are beautiful, fun, caring people and I love them all!!
