I went up north yesterday again to try to get a bull moose in the snow. Well, I not only found one, I found 3 bulls and a cow! I tried to sneak into an area that I most always see moose, but usually they see me first, so no photos, Well, this time I saw a young bull lying out in the middle of a small clearing . I got as close as I could as it was very quiet, and stood behind a cedar tree. I waited almost 2 hours for him to stand up , he was chewing his cud and in no hurry. I was hoping he had a buddy near by because there were more tracks with him. After he stood up and stretched and shook, I heard a moose snort and cough to my right . I was in an old skidder road leading to this small clearing. I got excited hoping to see a bigger bull step out, but out came a cow! She fed across to the other side and then the bull that was lying down went over where she came from, I heard antlers banking together! Oh great I thought, there is another bull after all. After awhile I saw him, another young bull, well, there were 3 of them in all! Then they started sparring again, I wanted so bad to see them better, and I thought the cow had wondered off, so I snuck down to get closer, I was about 30 yards from them and still could not get an open shot. Then I see the cow to my left about 20 yards, Oh great, I can not move to get the bulls now with her there I thought. So I got what I could and while shooting them, she heard my camera and walked out in front of me and right up to me, at 15 feet I moved back , the bulls were watching me at this point. She just whirled around and started eating again! LOL, then they wondered off feeding , and I left, it was pretty cool. I love it when those things happen. I Had a great day out in the north Maine woods. I saw a lot of Lynx tracks, a few coyote, rabbit and deer tracks, I was so hoping to see a Lynx, but no luck, I will try for my big bull again!
