I will have a blog for you later today and one of the questions I have t answer is this one but I wanted your thoughts on this before I reply please Name: Sandra__________ Message: I witnessed something on my cruise that I wanted to tell you about John. We are just off the Dream , We were traveling with Ryan and Kathy Ann________ who also witnessed this. It happened during breakfast on the last day on Lido when at the table near us a young girl no older than 7 or 8 maybe was misbehaving I guess but the reaction from the Mom was horrifying. She grabbed her daughter and started to shake her violently and then slapped across her behind and on her legs three maybe four times. The whole Lido deck around us were silent and also close by were two Carnival staff in white uniforms who stood there and did nothing at all just watched . This lady had lost control but the Carnival staff did nothing and security were nowhere to be seen. I decided to say something and when I approached her I was subjected to foul language and then she grabbed the poor young thing and walked away. No Carnival staff followed her or did anything to make sure the girl was safe. I am appalled by this . Why did you guys do nothing? Personally I think the staff did the right thing by not interfering although it is a fine line. Certainly if it has escalated beyond a few slaps and we thought the child was in danger then we would have acted immediately but this is parenting and that’s something I don’t think anyone has the right to interfere with. I think these days the sight of a parent slapping a child is so rare that it can be shocking so I understand why Sandra was concerned. Anyway, a subject worthy of discussion
