I will keep the games report brief as there were two games played on the weekend, rounds 10 and 15. Both games were played against Roselea FC at Harold West Reserve. Saturday game 11:00am. The Roselea FC team are a ex division 1 team and are a drilled team as they try to create triangles so they create opportunities to pass to there team members. Our boys definitely have the talent, fitness and commitment but over the game minor cracks appear which Roselea take advantage off. So the first half the score was 0-2. The second half we played better and only in the dying minutes the Roselea Striker completed a nice dribble and right in front of goals had a clear shot. 0-3. We had 1 reserve were Roselea had 4. Cameron got player of the match for his strong goal keeping while Nat had a break. Monday game 1:00pm. The Roselea Team had 5 boys away but still fielded a full team with one reserve. Tom and Lewis were away, we had an even game for a change. We played out typical game with the unusual excellent headers, throw-ins and corners. Nat has become stronger in his goal keeping and really works hard to keeps the goals away. One area we need work on is completed passes, a good kick is often passed to the opposition and we go from attack to defence. We had plenty of good attacks but recently our goal kicks are just not finding the net. So the first half went and only a loose ball and goal by Roselea showed the difference. 0-1. The second half Harry calls for the ball in front of the goal and kicks it in. The parents went wild. 1-1. It been a long while but it was the medicine the team needed to spur them on! Ben after injury was back and played a nice game with a couple of nice shots. Nat has been practicing diving and was seen diving for the ball, great stuff! Harry, inspired by his goal and the constant encouragement from his fans (parents) was seen running after a player and taking him out on the side line. Harry’s weight training was paying off as he just used his size and the Roselea player just tripped trying to get away. Meanwhile Roselea striker got the ball in front of the goal and had a clean shot. 1-2. This did not deter the boys and they mounted a number of attacks, often after a good goal kick from Chris or Nat. Manav and Mitch were running strong and performing good clears and placing the ball out on demand, rock solid play. Cameron and Hayden were working hard in trying to control the middle ground. Then Alex runs up the front and the defender tries to block, Alex turns the ball around and passes to a waiting and clear Hayden who then kicks it into the net! Pure class. 2-2. Mitch makes a good hustle for the ball and Nat makes another good save. Game over. Player of the Match was Harry who has slipped to the top, with Daniel, for the goal count. No Training this week as we had two games on the weekend.
