I will never see this again...probably. We quarter every walnut log before it gets milled, so when this particular log was quartered the heart fell out. The tree was shook, that means that during the life of the tree it was swayed by storm winds, vehicle impact or equivalent and the wood was separated along the growth rings. Only one of the quarters was worth saving but its really neat. It has 2 flat faces that are vertical grain, marbled curl 8 1/4 & 8 1/2 wide and a rounded edge that has a leathery texture. The 1/4 pole is 126 long. My hand is on the curved growth ring edge, its 11 from side to side. Find more beautiful, high grade, figure hardwoods @ nwtimber.net
