I will reiterate. I have been an atheist for over a half century. I was, however, raised as a Jew in the Conservative tradition and my cultural and secular ties to Judaism are strong. As well, inasmuch as I was born a Jew I have no doubt the most virulent of anti-semites will see me as nothing less than a Jew and would gladly have my head along with those who currently practice the religion. It, therefore, pains me to see the State of Israel committing atrocities and war crimes, all the while making the hatred of anti-semites seem rational and warranted.
