I wish I could shout this from the housetops. The reason why people arent singing is because the platform has become the focus, not the congregation. In corporate worship (corporate, meaning the entire body) everyone should be involved. With the deafening bass guitar, whining lead guitar, overly miked singers and relentless drums, and lets not forget the pretty lights and smoke, the congregation becomes obliterated. They are unheard and unseen (spotlights tend to do that to performers). Im not saying that the worship team isnt worshiping - they most likely are worshiping with all of their hearts. Its the meme that is overpowering the congregation. Who needs all those woofers and tweeters (that dates me, I know) in a room that holds 500 people? The congregation cant even hear themselves...so why bother? Worship has become a spectator activity...so wrong. There is no opportunity for interaction.
