I woke up this morning with a heavy heart; heart burdened with anger and loath. I was bitter, could taste bile in my mouth as I read this in Sun Newspaper NUPENG President, Igwe Achese said specifically in Okrika, Rivers state yesterday that Total Nigeria would have to recall its member, Elo Ogbonde, a Zonal officer elected for the Port Harcourt zone in July this year, but subsequently posted out to Lagos in August. “It was done to punish her and to make her lose her seat, but our position is that the strike which begins in the Port Harcourt zone tomorrow will not be called of until she is recalled. It will not be fair for any employers to undermine the rights of the workers to elect their leaders, this despite all the interventions by the Ministries”, he said. I have been preparing to take my children to go see their grandparents this Christmas after preparing for it for the whole year and I am sure millions of Nigerians are planning to spend this important season with their loved ones too. So, Mr. Igwe Achese of the NUPENG has decided to punish us, Nigerians, especially those who look forward to Christmas. From January to October, he never considered strike until TWO WEEKS to Christmas. He is inserting other demands like the PIB and refurbishing of refineries to make it look like he is fighting for the masses and not for his pocket and selfish interest. If he was fighting for the masses, he should know that the suffering masses need a breath of air during this season, and how important this season is to them. He should also know that no government topshot will be stranded for lack of fuel. And I am sure Mr. Igwe Acheses family has enough patrol to celebrate Christmas wherever they are. Every Christmas season, this undesirable elements will always want to use every opportunity to whip Nigerians. O Lord, whose birth we celebrate this season, will punish them. I have cancelled my trip. I dont want to be stranded in January. But Mr. Igwe as you have mudered Christmas for millions of Nigerians, be rest assured that we bear your name in our minds as the man we will never like. Igwe Achese, Christmas murderer!
