I wonder if anyone aside from me has taken the time to reflect on what compromising our values have given us. We always hear, we should compromise with Liberals, with Democrats, with the Senate, with the President. Well compromise has gotten us where we are today. 18 trillion in debt, one in seven on foodstamps, a weakened economy, a weakened military, a dollar in decline, inflation, low employment, Medicaid, Social Security, and Medicare, running out of money, Spying in US citizens, Allies and friends around the world, Terrorists infiltrating our government, A nuclear Iran, A radical regime in Egypt, Libya and a corrupt government in Afghanistan. It has gotten us higher fuel and energy costs, higher taxes, more dependent on government, a government that no longer feels it answers to the people, politics instead of leadership at all levels. All because someone said we need to compromise our values and core beliefs. And God forbid you dare to say no, then you are labeled a terrorist, obstructionist, fool, and someone who only has personal aspirations. I for one cant imagine why anyone even goes into politics, which may be one of the problems, no sane person, who believes in their own ability to produce income and value for themselves and others is going to want these positions, so what is left? Those who cant make it in the private sector I guess. Yes there are exceptions, but the task to change to something more productive for these people is daunting. We need two simple things to fix all of this. Term limits in all elected offices. Holding an elected office was never supposed to be a career move, it was intended to be service. And when people hold offices for decades they simply can no longer be effective. Tell me what someone like Dick Durbin or John McCain have in common with millennials, what they have in common with someone who was raised on welfare and broke away rather than made it a lifes habit, what they have in common with you or me. Tell me Nancy Pelosi, who is wealthy beyond sick, knows about being poor and how to help them. And these people will never pass a law that limits their ability to stay in power. The only way to get it done is get a constitutional amendment started which must be passed by two thirds of the states. Next is a balanced budget, we simply must make it law that our politicians may not spend more than they take in. Again only going to happen with a constitutional amendment. And these are possible, it only takes getting them on the ballot in the states during elections, it may take time and it may take several elections, but it can be done The two party system is just plain broken, the ideology is simply to entrenched,, the corruption and loyalty to party lines to deep. No one seems to care about what is right, only what enriches them to the voters. I wonder how many people actually understand things like teaching a man to fisk so they can feed themselves, when used in todays terms. A perfect example is the LBJ great society, deployed in the 1960s, designed to take Amercians out of poverty. Well as of today we have spent untold trillions of dollars, tranferred them from those that have produced to those supposedly in need with a desire to get them into the producing sector. But today we actually have more in poverty than ever before. It simply does not work, it simply allowed one party to give gifts to voters and keep them enslaved to poverty. Let me make one more point, if you are born to poverty, as I was, and you want for nothing because the government provides it all, and they did the same for your parents, and their parents before them, what do you learn. How do you learn to step out of it? We are perpetuating a circumstance with no fix in sight. it takes pride, ambition and confidence to change ones circumstance. Our programs should all be designed to both incent behavior which moves people to a more productive life and penalizes those who dont. I am all for helping those in need, but not by simply throwing money at them. It is like giving the drunk money to get more booze, you are not helping them. We have real problems in this country, and we are lacking true leaders willing to take them on. They are more concerned about getting reelected than doing wehat is right. I look at this Obamacare rollout, and I am disgusted that no one is talking about the fact we spent almost a billion dollars of our money to launch a website that does not work. This is our money folks, we should be so angry, and this is just one example. Trillions are being wasted due to poor leadership and lack of integrity and sense of duty and service. And the truth about keeping your doctor, keeping your plan, and lowering costs is finally hitting home, maybe in the end, the people will finally realize we have the power built into the constitution to make the changes even if these career politicians wont. For those of us old enough to remember the 60s, people took to the streets, young people protested, and some were even shot down by our own government. And they were called radicals and terrorists, but they stood up together to make change. We are old enough to realize, the country we are leaving for our young people will lack the opportunity and freedoms we enjoyed. Our parents and there parents made great sacrifices, two world wars, personal persecutions, assassinations and more so the way of life they believed in could continue. Ask yourself, what is it our generation has done to either allow these issues or change them. We have compromised our values to get along. There are consequences to being disengaged, and we are living them now.
