I would just like to say to those who see Yelp as an egalitarian hub of information and opinions are being misled. First off many reviewers only enter negative reviews, and many times they have an agenda as well. Secondly, Yelp floats the negative reviews higher and then uses them to lean on businesses to pay them $300 and up per month for their services, one of which is pushing negative reviews lower in the feed. I am not sure if this is extortion, but there seems to be some common ground. Also, while the negative reviews end up higher in the feed, positive ones from real customers who enjoyed their experiences tend to sink. The only way to get any relief is to pay them a fee. Whatever you call it, I think Tony Soprano would see a goldmine here. Just a thought when you pull up Yelp thinking you are getting an accurate picture of a business.
