I would like to begin this by saying that I have not yet had an opportunity to attend a meeting for I am that girl, which I would like to change next semester. I am not sure if this has been discussed or not in a meeting or something of the like, but I am interested as to the purpose of posting clear offense bait from sites like returnofkings . After reading an interview with one of the purveyors of the articles on the site, it seemed so clear that the only reason these articles are published is because people will respond with righteous indignation and share it to shame it. The unfortunate reality is, that the article play clocks in page views and ad revenue making the attempt to show it counter-intuitive. My question is, do any of you feel that these articles adequately reflect male attitudes in large respects towards women? Or do you also suspect that (however wrong it is to exploit) that the misogyny is heightened so it will play out more dramatically on social media? These are not rhetorical questions, I am genuinely interested in what you have to say on this phenomenon. In my personal opinion, and I am so willing to be wrong, it would seem that focusing on these articles may be an incorrect focus of attention since the drama is too accessible and the author so opaquely wrong that only the most hardcore MRA pricks would genuinely believe and view it. It would seem to me that the more relevant articles posted are the ones where the misogyny plays out in a far more subtle fashion, articles which reveal underlying prejudice in the shadows of everyday life. Again please feel free to disagree, these are all just amorphous thoughts on it really. Hope all of your summers are going well.
