I would like to congratulate all TAGB Scotland students who travelled to Davos at the weekend and done themselves and their instructors proud. I will post an exact medal count as soon as I have it. The national teams were dealt a blow with 3 experienced squad members picked to fight in a GB team so I had to re-shuffle a few things at the last minute. Congratulations to the national ladies team captained by Joanne Duncan for finishing in 3rd place , the ladies narrowly missed out on a place in the final after the ref had to make the final call in the deciding fight. Well done Joanne Duncan , Gillian Duncan & Michelle Duffy. The mens team were up against it from the word go after losing 2 of the most experienced members in the national mens squad and we had to compete with 2 lightweights and 2 welter weights with an average age of 18 years old , we were however helped out on the day by Baz Ince from England who became the 5th man for us. The men were drawn against an incredibly large Russian team in the first round but the guys were in no way phased by this and showed tremendous courage by taking the fight to the Russians. The team were however eventually beat but the way this team performed made me extremely proud to be their coach , a special mention to Josh Maxwell who at 16 year old took on a much more experienced Russian who weighed in around 115 kg in his first ever national team outing , the courage Josh showed by standing on the same mat as this bloke was amazing and is an example of how hard this squad train and how much they want to compete for their country. Well done to captain Greg Dunlop , David Hand , Steven Frew , Jamie McDade , Josh Maxwell & Baz Ince (McBash). Thanks for all the support from students , parents and instructors and a special thanks to Angus Budge for helping with the squad on the day. Well done also to Scottish squad members Hazel Bracken , James Reed & James Watson for their performances in the GB team and playing a major role in ensuring that both the GB men & ladies team finished in 1st place.
