I would like to share with you that my Dear ol Dad passed away - TopicsExpress

I would like to share with you that my Dear ol Dad passed away shortly after midnight this morning. He was 92. While I was always so proud of him for being a WWII war hero, rather than share with you the gruesome memories that haunted him, this time I want to tell you about the dad that took the most awesome home movies before movie cameras even recorded sound. The dad that created the most intricate wood work, taught me how to turn a wrench, and made a kick ass Halloween robot costume out of a 50 gallon drum and an umbrella that won me first prize in 1st grade. The dad that could play Ol’ Suzanna on a harmonica like you never heard before, loved to sing along to the oldies, tap his feet and shout out a hee haw of an “A-ha” at the top of his lungs. The dad that took us road tripping on the best vacations, pulling over on the side of the road telling mom to quickly pick some farmer’s cotton down south, speed away then tell mom what a “cotton picker” she was!! Yes, my dad had the best sense of humor, a legacy that I see in our family that we will carry with us everywhere. While we are sad at his passing, we are relieved as his last couple of days were hard ones. Mom is doing well and is surrounded by family.
