I write to you, dear children, because you know the Father. I write to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God lives in you, and you have overcome the evil one. 1 John 2:14 sn: Notice the generational differences in this passage: young men bring adventures to the community of faith while fathers are known for their relationship with God. The church should be a place filled with the strength of youth while also honoring the perspectives that come with a lifetime of godliness. Each generation is in desperate need of the other, and we would do well to make room for both in the house of God.
