ICYMI: Yesterday, a St. Louis grand jury refused to indict Officer Darren Wilson for killing #MikeBrown. The decision was announced by St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Robert McCulloch who in a bizzarre press conference doubled down on his support for #DarrenWilson and law enforcement practices that put Black lives in danger. According to McCulloch: “The most significant challenge encountered in this investigation has been the 24-hour news cycle and its insatiable appetite for something, for anything to talk about, following closely behind with the non-stop rumors on social media.” Really the most significant challenge has been social media? As Maureen Johnson pointed out last night on Twitter the problem isnt social media, or our collective commitment to fight for #MikeBrown and a higher standard of policing the fact the police keep shooting children is the problem. McCulloch and Gov Jay Nixon has failed. Now we must demand But theres still hope President Barack Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder secure justice for #MikeBrown: JusticeForMikeBrown.org
