IDFF 2013 GENERAL RANKING GRAN PRIX - Plaque issued by the President of the Italian Republic Genuine Cinema marks out the winning short movie 2d Combat Camera in Action presented by the United States Air Forces at the 23rd edition of the International Defence Film Festival organizated by the cultural association Eserciti e Popoli in Bracciano, near Rome (Nov. 12-16). Its 7 minutes and 40 seconds of engaging length convinced the jury to award the first prize to this short movie. The producer and director Adam White is thus granted the Plaque issued by the President of the Italian Republic. 2d Combat Camera in Action conquers the highest step of the podium in the world most famous Film Festival concerning the audiovisual productions of Armed Forces. This is the jury’s verdict: “The Second Combat-Camera Unit narrates, with a persisting rythm, its job in a modern and avant-gard style”. The Jury and the special awards granted The jury’s members are: Leonardo Tiberi (producer and director is the president), Alexander de Montleart (director), Paolo Insalata (author and IDFF executive director), Massimo Mondini (historian), Marcello Ramognino (documentary filmmaker), Tonino Scaroni (journalist). They evaluated 45 shorts, documentaries, and ads presented by 13 nations (Brazil, Canada, China, Korea, Croatia, Finland, Italy, Romania, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Hungary , USA). The Jury’s special prizes were granted to: •Switzerland for “Pro Aero Youth Camp” (medal of the President of the Senate) because it has shown “an enjoyable approach to put in contact the youth with the air force” •USA for “Bath Salts: it’s not a fad…it’s a night mare” (medal of the President of the House of Representatives) because of “its drawing on the great horror movies tradition and its valuable social communication style”.
