IF THE SHOE FITS, then.....(ijs) We can choose the sin, but we - TopicsExpress

IF THE SHOE FITS, then.....(ijs) We can choose the sin, but we cannot choose the consequences. A favorite saying of one of my very good friends (Thanks Lisa). More importantly, scripture addresses responsibility & consequences (READ Gal. 6:5, 2Cor. 5:10, Prov 28:13). For every action theres a reaction & every choice we make, good or bad, deserves a response, good or bad. Whether you call it karma or sin consequences, its a belief most rarely have to debate. Whatever you call it, when you choose to act outside of the will of God, ownership of your sin & an HONEST confession will restore your relationship with God; Hes faithful & forgiving far beyond what we deserve. However, there remains the fall out...the spillover from bad choices. Sometimes your choices render families broken & divided, friendships damaged as lies are slowly uncovered, motives are exposed, suspicion and distrust increase...the list goes on & on. Another list often NOT acknowledged is the long list of casualties; the people, OTHER THAN YOURSELF, that are left hurting from your bad choice. Particularly true when OWNING responsibility for the results of your bad choices are NOT acknowledged, or when the emotional beat-down of the casualties involved, intentionally or by default, are not considered & addressed. Or when there are attempts to test loyalties or manipulate facts to your favor & blame others for the choices you made. Theres also a tendency to expect or require those considered close to you to choose sides. Unreasonable, especially when considering that had good choices been made, initially, there would not be a need, for those considered close to you or to the situation, to be confronted with the painful & unfortunate expectation to choose a side. God judges sin and exposes secrets. And in the words of a wise man, We are as sick as our secrets! (R.I.P. Bro. White). My additive to that statement, After our secrets make us sick, we infect & affect others!, particularly, those closest to us. Forgiveness is not ours to decline. However, the unmerited impositions of guilt, the intentional lack of personal ownership/responsibility as to defer or blame everyone except yourself for the consequences that your choices have reaped, or even questioning whether the casualties, left from the choices you made, have responded in any way outside of Gods word, will or direction...... is unacceptable & ours to decline! ...and wouldnt it be a wonderful world had so many choices been considered unselfishly? ...and wouldnt it be a wonderful world if consequences & casualties were given consideration PRIOR to actions? ...for that matter, wouldnt it be a wonderful world if obedience to Gods word & commands (by any of us, but particularly, Believers) was the first response to opportunities to make bad choices? Leaving you with those questions & prayerfully, those considerations as well, because, We can choose the sin, but we cannot choose the consequences! ...PeriodDotCom.
