IIT no big deal said GATE topper __________________________ BANGALORE: Bangalore has done it again. An engineer from the city is the all-India topper in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2014. The results were declared on Friday. Many engineering graduates put in a lot of effort to crack the GATE with the dream of pursuing postgraduate programmes in IISc and the IITs. But Ankit Goyal, who is an associate engineer at Qualcomm , a mobile technology company in Bangalore, decided not to pursue a PG course in one of the countrys top institutes . Incidentally, hes the all-India topper in electrical engineering . Ankit is not new to an institute like IIT. He is a native of Delhi who completed his BTech in electrical engineering at IIT Indore in 2013. Ankit told that he secured eighth rank in GATE last year, but wanted to top the exam and took it again this year. Despite a nine-hour work schedule in office, Ankit devoted three hours every day to crack the GATE. He agreed that for many students getting a seat in an IIT may be a big thing. But I have already studied there; so its not fascinating to me , he said. Ankit is happy with his present job. The same companies will come to these institutes for recruitment. This doesnt bring a big change in my career , he added. The topper lives in the city with his mother Shikha Goyal and sister Swati Goyal, a software engineer. #add_n_stay_up_to_date
