IM VERY HAPPY with what I do to make a living BUT I think I need to diversify, & heres why: My day job is in the antiques trade. I conducted an estate sale recently. I spent about 200 man hours working(research,cleaning,fixing,pricing,selling,moving, etc) My take was around $5000 gross on about $25,000 sold(I paid all help and expenses out of that) leaving me about $3000 which is a very awesome amount of money and Im very happy about that!! ...BUT the realtor who just sold the home spent about 3 hours and made over $20,000...ok thats much more awesome! Then at a recent gig(my other source of income) I was talking with a server about how she did. I knew it was a good night, because it was very crowded. We both worked roughly the same amount of hours(about 6). I played the music I love with some amazing musicians to a packed house, so Im very happy about that and I made $100, thats awesome! ....BUT the server made over $400....ok thats more awesome! I LOVE success stories and Im very happy for anyone who can make good money in these tough economic times, more power to them!!.....and being someone who believes in a strong work ethic Im thinking from now on during my breaks at gigs, Im going to get behind the bar and serve drinks while showing everyone listings of homes for sale! LOL :)
