IMC Pick Of The Day - The MOTET As I was in line to get into the theatre last night to see Snarky Puppy, a good amount of the buzz from people around me was about the opening act, The MOTET. This Denver, Colorado band hit the stage with a dynamic energy and never took their foot off the gas. The band performed an amazing set that featured both covers and original songs that were extremely intricate in the delivery. Drummer Dave Watts & bassist Garrett Sayers laid a solid foundation for guitarist Ryan Jalbert and the incredibly tight horn section of Matt Pitts on tenor sax & Gabe Mervine on trumpet to do their thing. Lead singer Jans Ingber also brought depth with his added percussion during the extended solos. The cherry on this sundae is the extraordinary Joey Porter on keyboards. He was ON FIRE every solo and locked down the overall sound of the band. They have released 7 albums since 2000 and they are definitely worth exploring.
