IMPORTANT FARM UPDATE: Please help us share this important message for those who may visit the farm this coming weekend. Weather forecasts show some inclement weather Saturday with occasional breaks from the precipitation and the front fully cleared out for Sunday. Your visit at the farm will be made more enjoyable if you consider these suggestions: First and Foremost: Read the answers to many common questions on our website. Guidance there is your first step on what to expect, where we are located, when operations start and end, etc. Upfront, it’s obvious that Saturday’s weather will be less than ideal. Though we will be open every day 9a-5:30p, a few folks might defer getting their tree until Sunday. Depending upon the intensity of the forecast rain and when it occurs, there is a possibility that on both Sat/Sun some fields where we normally park vehicles will have restricted areas due to their conditions which reduces our parking capacity. Because of this, please note: A: There are 3 parking locations during this season: The Valley, Candy Cane Hill and the Barnyard. Vehicles will be directed to parking locations that have open capability. Moving vehicles off the public roads promptly is our concern. Please do not ask to turn around or travel to a different parking field to meet-up with others getting their tree at a separate parking area. The Winery with the gift shop, Kitchen with the cider and cookies, and fields with all the varieties of trees can be accessed readily from every parking location. B: With limited parking, we must emphasize that tailgating is not allowed. Please visit the website to see our full tailgating policy. C: We would expect that a vehicle coming to the farm is bringing guests to harvest a tree in our fields or choose one from our barnyard, or visit the winery. Please consider car-pooling so that larger family groups are consolidated into the vehicle transporting the tree they have harvested. There can be no assurance that multiple car groups will be parking near one another, even when entering our property sequentially. As always: Wear appropriate footwear. Dress in layers. The forecast temperature varies over the weekend. While it may be warm where you live, it’s often colder or windier here on the farm. Physical activity of hiking around our fields or harvesting your tree can warm you up, and being able to shed a layer will possibly be fitting for you. Wearing a hat and gloves would be wise. ESPECIALLY: Bring a tarp. The farm has saws to lend out for your cutting activity for a harvest your own tree. We have tree tram vehicles to shuttle your tree from a distant field to our bailing/pickup location where you can load it on your vehicle. Getting to any of the tree pickup locations can be made easier if you have a tarp to pull the tree along rather than drag it against the ground or carry it. Call the Crop Report Message. Its the same telephone number all through the seasons on the farm, and is updated regularly (sometimes more than once a day) to inform you before you visit. A simple phone call, even while en-route can be helpful. 203-929-8425. Know that there are two ways to bring home a tree. The Harvest Your Own version is any tree you harvest on the farm. No matter the size or the species - they are priced at $65 and includes the annual commemorative ornament to memorialize your harvest activity. Harvest Your Own Trees are Cash or Check only. The Fresh Cut version refers to trees our staff have chosen to harvest from our distant fields and brought under roof of our sheds and barns. Those are individually priced by size and species and located in our barnyard. All tree prices include the CT State Sales Tax. HAVE FUN!! While the farm credo is Be Good To The Land And The Land Will Be Good To You, one of our mottos is Memories Are Always In Season. Enjoy the hunt for the perfect tree. Embrace the beauty of the farms setting and fields of trees from Mother Nature. If you are properly attired (footwear), and prepared (tarp), it will make your visit all the more enjoyable! Our staff may find it difficult to respond promptly to electronic queries and facebook posts during the weekend as they are busy attending to guests on the farm, so if you have questions we encourage you visit our website for answers. If you have never been here before during Christmas - we STRONGLY encourage you visit our website. jonesfamilyfarms
