IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR ALL CURRENT & NEW PLAYERS. PRE-SEASON - TopicsExpress

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR ALL CURRENT & NEW PLAYERS. PRE-SEASON TRAINING UPDATE - THIS THURSDAY 7th NOV. Season 2013 had many highlights for St George AFC but the fact of the matter is that we finished just short of a Premiership in each of the 3 grades. As a group we need to examine each phase of season 2014 and find that little bit extra in all we do. To this end, the coaching team have divided the pre-season training into a Pre-Christmas and Post-Christmas period. Pre-Christmas training will concentrate on improving four aspects of our game being: • Speed • Endurance • Agility and • Strength. The formula is pretty simple but requires participation of all players. We need to establish personal benchmarks in each of the 4 areas nominated above by having a testing regime then carrying out training tailored to meet the results of the testing and then re-testing to ensure that gains have been made. Training will commence of Thursday 7 November at 6:30pm at Olds Park. Thereafter training will be every Tuesday at 7pm at Olds Park and every Thursday at 6:30pm at Olds Park. There will be training on Saturdays but the location and time will vary. The first 3 training nights (ie the first Thursday and the next Tuesday and Thursday) will concentrate on testing. We need every Player to attend at least 1 of these 3 nights. There are then 8 Tuesday and Thursdays remaining for training before retests happen again on Tuesday 17th and Thursday 19th December. Each Tuesday and Thursday training will be tailored to improve each of the 4 criteria depending on the results of the tests. Each player will be given additional training sessions tailored to improve their individual area of need. There are a number of ways for players to participate; 1. Be tested and come to all the trainings, and do additional training sessions from the handouts tailored to meet their test results. Then be retested. This is the PREFERRED method. 2. Be tested and do all the training from the handouts tailored to meet the test results. Then be retested. This is available if a player cannot attend the sessions. Players may be able to do the sessions at lunchtime or at another location. This could suit players with summer sporting commitments. All current, new, and Academy players are asked to participate in this important pre-season training phase.
