IN THE NEWS -- More than 100 children have been seen at Childrens Hospital in Colorado Springs in the past five weeks for respiratory issues amid a rare virus outbreak that has sickened hundreds of children in more than 10 states. The enterovirus D68 strain is rare and can causes cold-like symptoms that include runny noses, coughing, and wheezing. However, this summers cases are unusually severe and include serious breathing problems, particularly for children with a history of asthma or wheezing. No deaths have been reported in the outbreak.
