INONGE CONVENES NATIONAL COUNCIL WITHOUT SCOTT, MASEBO Members - TopicsExpress

INONGE CONVENES NATIONAL COUNCIL WITHOUT SCOTT, MASEBO Members of the National Council which comprises members of the Central Committee, Members of Parliament, Provincial and District officials commenced an hour ago. It was convened by Ms. Inonge Wina party national Chairperson as provided for under Article 49. of the Patriotic Front (PF) constitution. Its job is to consider the list of candidates and make recommendations to the General Conference and has been convened in the absence of Acting party President Dr. Guy Scott and Chairperson for Elections Ms. Sylvia Masebo. Ms. Inonge Wina who is the Chairperson of the Party informed the Conference that all procedures provided for in the Constitution will be followed. Delegates are seated in the main arena waiting patiently. Ms. Masebo escorted by heavy police stormed the National Council Meeting within the last half hour and informed the meeting that without her process of accreditation, the proceedings being done by National Chairperson Inonge Wina will be a nullity. She insisted that Acting President has set up 3 centres for accreditation in town and delegates have to be taken into town. The meeting has adjourned and leaders are considering and mauling over her proposal. There is clear confusion as there seems to be no coordination between Ms. Wina and Dr. Scott. Some delegates had proposed that all accreditation should be done at Mulungushi Rock of Authority however Dr. Scott has designated three centres where scrutiny for underhand dealing is in force. The waiting is adding to the tension as news is not filtering through in a coherent manner as sloganeering continues. Earlier a public plea was made to the delegates that in the event that Acting President Scott and Elections Chairperson Sylvia Masebo arrived at the venue they should be welcomed and their supporters should not be harassed. It is evident that the parallel power centres in the party as had earlier been seen this month are at play once again.
