INTERSTELLAR is a sci-fi film similar to CONTACT in some ways and Mad Max to a lesser degree. It is centered around a future where the panet is quickly dying from global drought due to climate change. All non-human animals are extinct; no sea life either. Most vegetables and edible plant life are gone except for corn and some crops native to various locales around the planet; but these are in short supply and are becoming more depleted every growing season. The film begins showcasing one family of four generations with the youngest being Earths last. The film is a frightening look into our near future if we do not do something drastic now to change the course we are headed on regarding the environment; but this is not some left-wing propaganda film. This is a study in what lengths we may have to go to in order to survive, even if we have to leave this world to find another in order to preserve the human race. This is most likely going to be nominated for Best Picture, and I would agree. Go see it.
