INVITATION: DLSU Participation in the Events of the Apostolic Visit of Pope Francis in the Philippines All DLSU Alumni are encouraged to join. ******************************************************************************* Office of the President and Chancellor ( (632) 524-4611 Ext. 801 * [email protected] 08 January 2015 TO : The Academic Community FR : Br. Dennis M. Magbanua FSC OIC President and Chancellor RE : DLSU Participation in the Events of the Apostolic Visit of Pope Francis As the entire nation eagerly awaits the arrival of His Holiness Pope Francis in the country, the Lasallian community joins the Catholic Church and all our fellow Filipinos in praying for a safe and fruitful apostolic visit of Pope Francis who will embark on a mission of mercy and compassion in our land from January 15-19, 2015. We encourage the Lasallian community to take part in the different activities of the pope’s visit, especially in the Mass of the Holy Father at the Quirino Grandstand on Sunday, January 18, the Feast of the Santo Nino, with your family and friends. For more pertinent information and reminders about the visit of the pope, please visit the official website at papalvisit.ph. There are, however, two events where DLSU will officially take part in. These are: 1. Welcoming the Holy Father En Route to Mall of Asia Arena DLSU will join other Catholic schools in welcoming the Holy Father as he enters the venue of the meeting and after this event as he passes along the route (along EDSA Extension, near Blue Wave Macapagal) on Friday, January 16, 2015 from 2:30 - 7:00pm. We will gather at the Corazon Aquino Democratic Space (Henry Sy Sr. Hall) at 1:00 pm and will leave at 1:30 pm. This is open to all members of the academic community. If you wish to participate in this event, kindly contact LSPO at ext. 410 or through email at [email protected]. Due to high-alert security level during these days, only those who signed-up will be allowed to enter the campus and join the DLSU contingent. Please take into account the precautions necessary for such event, i.e. safety and security, traffic congestion, and re-routing before signing up for this. We advise those taking part in this activity to come in La Salle Green shirt, bring water and snacks, and not to bring valuables as you may have to walk a long distance along crowded streets leading to the site. The organizers are discouraging the people to carry umbrellas and banners. Instead, we are advised to bring caps, jackets, and/ or raincoats. 2. Pope’s Encounter with the Youth DLSU will be sending selected students to the Pope’s Encounter with the Youth, a gathering of young people interacting with His Holiness Pope Francis on the morning of January 18, 2015, Sunday, from 7:00 am to 12:00 noon, at the University of Santo Tomas Grandstand and Open Field. Thank you and may this blessed occasion inspire us to show God’s mercy and compassion especially to the last, the lost, and the least. **************************************************** Registration through e-mail is now ongoing. Please signify your intent by sending an e-mail to Mr. Andylyn Simeon, Director of the Lasallian Pastoral Office, at [email protected].
