IT IS NOT BY MIGHT (Zechariah 4:6) For this subject matter, we will take most of our bible quotations from the Amplified and King James bibles. ‘The word of the Lord to Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit [of Whom the oil is a symbol], says the Lord of hosts (Zechariah 4:6(b)) (AMP).’ * What is not by might? * Result of trying to do it through might or human knowledge? * Solutions to our spiritual battles * God’s position concerning us What is not by might? We’ll start by considering what the Word of God says is not by might. Father Abraham in the book of genesis was promised two things; the father of many nations (Genesis 17:4-5) and a land to possess (Genesis 12:7). Rather than for Abraham to wait for the Lord’s time, he allowed his wife to talk him into sleeping with their slave called Hagar because Sarah felt she was too old to bear children (Genesis 16:1-4((a)). God actually gave the children of Israel the land He promised with condition Numbers 33:50-56. God does not expect us to help Him actualize His promises to us. Read 2 Samuel 6:6-7 and see how God reacts to us trying to help Him. Result of trying to do it through might or human knowledge? When Abraham took Hagar and slept with her, she conceived and had a boy called Ishmael. It is this Ishmael that is the father of the (Arabs) Muslim world. These are only those in the Middle East not Muslim converts. We know what they stand for in the world today especially with the Jews. Numbers 33:50-56 tell us that God had commanded the children of Israel to destroy everything in the land and kill all the inhabitants. The Israelites failed to destroy everything and spared some people in the land. Solutions to our spiritual battles Whether we know it or not, Jesus has taken over all our burdens so there is nothing else to do but trust Him. Jesus Christ in Matthew 11:28-30 invites us to lean on Him and allow Him to be our strength and our giver of inner peace. Acknowledge that you can not handle what you’re facing. The Lord is a Strong Tower that is able to protect you if you abide in Him (Proverbs 18:10). Invite the Lord Christ to take over your human knowledge (John 3:30) because right now, He is knocking at the door of your heart (Revelation 3:20). Lean on the Lord and not on your understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6). God’s position concerning us. It is not out of place for us to think that either God does not care about us or that He does not see what is happening to us especially when the situation is almost unbearable. That thought or feeling is wrong for this is what the Lord says; ‘For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome Jeremiah 29:11(AMP). Remember that God is not a man that He should say something and not do it (Numbers 23:19). PRAYER POINT: O! Lord my God, I apply your Word in Psalm 139:1-6 and Psalm 103:12 to affirm that I am worthy before you. Everything I had tried in the past applying my might or human knowledge, I apologize and ask you to take over as you promise. Thank you Lord Jesus for your love.
