MOMS-TO-BE: DID YOU KNOW? Newborns delivered via C-section before 39 WEEKS gestation and babies delivered via repeat C-section, are twice as likely to be admitted to the NICU for breathing problems. C-section babies also have higher rates of childhood asthma. WHY? When baby is pushed through the birth canal, fluid is squeezed from their lungs, so babies delivered vaginally tend to have fewer respiratory issues.
