Duties and Responsibilities Provide senior-level systems administration functions for an expansive Linux environment, including project planning, systems design and engineering, performance management, security auditing, and capacity planning. Maintain core systems on the Linux platform Compose and maintain internal documentation Participate and assist in product deployments, upgrades and maintenance Maintain the patch levels of OS and application patches on all systems Ability to be on-call 24x7 to respond to site outages and emergencies Monitoring of all systems MySQL database configuration, optimization and backups Maintaining & deploying highly available virtual server environments Make good judgments about the relative priority of various requests and set clear expectations with employees regarding when they should expect resolution Required Qualifications 5+ years of experience in Linux systems administration (Redhat, Centos, Ubuntu) 3+ years of network administration experience 1+ years of experience directly managing employees Solid understanding of Mysql Database administration In-depth knowledge of shell scripting Demonstrated experience working with monitoring and analytics tools (e.g. Nagios, Cacti, Splunk) Experience with packet capture and analysis tools (tcpdump, wireshark) Knowledge of fundamental security practices Excellent oral and written communication skills Dependability and reliability Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects with minimal supervision BA/BS Degree in computer science or related field Additional Desired Qualifications Knowledge of PHP/Perl/Python programming OpenBSD, FreeBSD, NetBSD experience a plus Experience with DNS, SMTP, routing protocols, transfer protocols Virtual systems build and management utilizing VMware, KVM, Xen, etc. Use of AWS mainly EC2, ELB, and S3 Understanding of data storage concepts and backup/disaster recovery WordPress deployment and management Understanding of OpenLDAP Kerberos Knowledge of Microsoft Windows 2008/2012 Server, Microsoft Windows 7/8 and Mac OS Active Directory Server Compensation and Benefits Compensation depends on experience and consists of base salary and a target bonus opportunity based primarily on individual performance.
