IT’S AFRICA’S TIME Season 1 Episode 13 In Episode 13, IT’S AFRICA’S TIME visits Nigeria to discuss the training programmes, small business incentives and corporate social investments of two global giants, and their impacts on grassroots transformation within Nigerian society - featuring Dangote Groupand Coca-Cola. “IT’S AFRICA’S TIME” visits Lagos where Dangote Group, the country’s biggest listed company is consolidating their contribution to the nations growth and development through an extensive focus on job creation, skills training and development, and empowering small businesses with access to reduced interest loans. According to Aliko Dangote, “the vision of the Dangote Group is to transform sub-Saharan Africa and eventually maybe Africa as whole. Every single country in Africa is blessed with a lot. What we lack are the entrepreneurs to drive the same trajectory that the Asian tigers have… but it’s going to come.” In Abuja, “IT’S AFRICA’S TIME” learns about the 5by20 initiative, Coca-Cola’s global commitment to enable the economic empowerment of 5 million women entrepreneurs across the company’s value chain by 2020; and how the women participating in the Nigerian Micro Distribution Centre business model, have benefited from this engagement. “Beyond the impact on their businesses and their finances, we find that as individuals, the woman become even more confident.
