Id love to know who came up with this embarrassing shite thats doing the rounds: Cllr Keith Aspden has told John Guildford the Liberal Democrats have his back and will call an emergency meeting of the executive to cancel the Community Stadium project with immediate effect. Reasons include: 1) The project has led to the eviction, and calls for the extinction of, the York City Knights professional Rugby League Club, using bullying tactics against owner and local businessman John Guildford. 2) It provides solely for the benefit of York City Football Club, owned by Malton-based business JMP. 3) It has been the sole reason for the imminent threat of closure of local community asset Yearsley Pool. 4) It continues to threaten York City Centre trade by moving footfall into the outer reaches of the city. 5) It threatens traffic chaos for Monks Cross and surrounding community and roads. 6) The near-£40m project cant be justified for the sake of benefiting a few thousand football fans of a four tier club and a Malton-based business. They are welcome to pay for their own stadium and we will assist them in finding a suitable location. #YorkAndProud #SaveTheKnights
