Id seen the abandoned South Fremantle Power Station quite a few times and it had always interested me, so a couple of weeks back I decided to finally venture through the fences and go inside. The building had such an impact on me that day that I decided I had to return to explore it further. For thirty years the building has been abandoned, used mainly as a refuge for junkies and the homeless in the winter. The feeling of walking through this building completely alone is something I cant quite explain. Almost totally silent and with so much history, its as if time stands still inside there. Id read stories of people being chased out of the underground tunnels by shrieking homeless people but thankfully I had the building to myself. Unfortunately the council have decided to turn it into apartments and commercial spaces in the coming years. I wanted to try and capture it before this happens.
