If I had to tell you about the past 6 weeks of my life, youd - TopicsExpress

If I had to tell you about the past 6 weeks of my life, youd probably think I was exaggerating or outright lying to you. Imagine going without a washing machine for a month and a half - with 6 people living in your house, 3 of whom are young children, and there is no laundromat in town. If youre like me, youd be thankful for water that you can run in your bathtub so you can massage your feet as you kick the clothes around - all the while being dressed for summer in the Arctic autumn months. Then, of course, theres the added bonus of squeezing out as much water as possible before dropping it into a rinse bucket and repeating the process before throwing it in a laundry basket with other clothes that will take longer to dry in the dryer than is usual because, no matter how much strength my body has, I just cant mange to spin like a washer. What are the benefits? Strengthened lower back muscles, feet which feel more relaxed and moisturized than ever, stronger muscles in various parts of my arms and shoulders, a greater appreciation for a clothes washer than I had before and the blissful sound of hearing the clothes moving around in the dryer - zippers and all - as a reward for all of my hard labor. After all is said and done, I have clean clothes again. The downside? I cant keep up the pace that my washer could so some of our clothes sits in a garbage bag on the doorstep, pre-sorted and ready for washing, which is kept at almost a frozen state this time of year. Thankfully, no one has thrown anything out. Why dont I buy another washer? Well, in all honesty, I shouldnt have to. This LG front load washer is only 3 years old. The commercial Kenmore washer I had before lasted 10 years and still worked but I sold it in favor of a washer which used less water - a bonus when you have water delivered to your house three times a week and have to watch how much you use between deliveries. I, finally, found a company willing to ship me the part and installed it a couple of nights ago. It seemed I might have gotten it to work as everyone else who has had the same issue. No such luck! As soon as a couple of towels were put into the washer, I had the same problem as before. Today, I decided it was time to wash some clothes and get my exercise for the day - only the water wouldnt come through the taps. Believing the sewage tank was full, I waited until the truck came to pump out the tank. The water still didnt work. After investigating a little, I came to the conclusion that my water pump had given out - which was later confirmed by the maintenance tech who came over. We wont get it replaced until Monday! Guess what? Im going to go old style while I fool around with the front load washer in between writing, working at the job and around the house and hanging out with the kids. Im going to get a twin tub washer. Yes, its more work but not nearly as much work as what Im doing now. Besides, I think the little ones just might develop an interest in helping with laundry and I wont have to worry about having to get water from a tap; Ill just get a container of water from the neighbors, as the need arises. Thanks to Jennifer McCrone tonight for washing a couple of loads of clothes for me so that all I needed to do was throw the clothes in the dryer. It is much appreciated and I can relax more tomorrow, even without water flowing through the taps, knowing that the clothes is clean.
