If John MacArthur (who I have learned from and admired in the past) was to be politically correct with a statement concerning his latest thorn in the flesh bandwagon issue, I believe it would read something like this: ”Although I have reviewed the word thoroughly and have a study Bible named after me, I have taken it upon myself to study for yourself too. If you could just comply without question that would conveniently arrange your opinion to the one I’ve picked out for you. There was a time when I gave people ample opportunity to adjust their biblical interpretation to the way I was thinking but it seems they were taking too much time to adapt to my advanced assessment. According to scripture, much learning has made me mad (Acts 26:24) but it’s a madness that has a place on today’s theologically ignorant landscape. When I was younger I often permitted others (Calvin, Athanasius and the Nicene Creed) to do most of my thinking for me but now that the indifferent plebs are finally learning to think like myself too, I must somehow think extra so those who still refuse my rendition can have the same certified disorientation or at the very least, some abject MacArthurist quality to their confusion. I would like to send out a special anathema to my Charismatic friends who are currently annoying the crap out of me by not stopping what they’re doing and (doing by) adapting to my view. Since I hope to make an impact, notoriety and a fair amount of money from my new book Strange Fire, I know those who read this will learn to think like me or… I’ll find a way to write about your opposition somehow, which surely may include the person who is reading this posting. Thank you.”
