If My people who are called by My name will HUMBLE themselves, and pray and seek My face, and TURN FROM their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14 Therefore HUMBLE yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time. 1 Peter 5:6 Well, we understand what it means to pray, and turn away from wickedness, but HOW do we humble ourselves? The answer is found in the Psalms: I humbled myself with FASTING Psalm 35:13 The purpose of fasting is to humble ourselves by disciplining our flesh, that is our natural desires. Paul says: I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. Galatians 5:16-17 Do you want more of the Holy Spirit in your life? Do you want more of His power working through you? Then carefully cleanse your life from all sin and make fasting and prayer a regular part of your life. I am NOT talking about long 40 day fasts. I am talking about regular one or two day water only fasts. Do NOT go on a prolonged fast unless the Lord specifically instructs you to do so. If God tells you to do this, then He will strengthen you to be able to do it. If you are doing it only because of pride, etc., you will fall under very severe demonic attack.
