If anybody wants to help a bit, I am trying to help Robot - TopicsExpress

If anybody wants to help a bit, I am trying to help Robot Operating System team with resources and brains. ROS originally came from Stanford University and some support from Google. Today, there isnt any Stanford working on this effort. (they have all been invited by me personally) This is an untethered, non remote autonomous robot. We may not win, but its going to be a lot of fun. This same team won the Microsoft Connect Challenge with machine vision. Its not a lot of student, but mostly older Garage hacks with a few folks from Google and have a common interest. Being a NASA effort, there is pretty big RED Tape. Having worked a few NASA projects, I know how risk averse and process driven NASA is. Currently, trying to get a good stabilized platform. This very dependent on OpenCV and a more complex Integration of Physics, Vehicle design and sensors. The environment is like a planet surface. Contested Environment - Most RF will be jammed to deprive control and GPS. Even lighting maybe fluctuated to prevent laser and infrared. This Hackathon is actually harder than the rovers already on MARs, because its not remote controlled but actually thinking. nasa.gov/roverchallenge/competition/#.VHfC7VxGiRQ
