If my post yesterday about Aarons frustrations at school came - TopicsExpress

If my post yesterday about Aarons frustrations at school came across as critical of teachers or his high school I apologize. We have always wanted to only support and encourage our educators! I cant imagine how difficult it must be to appropriately balance state education expectations, school admin guidelines, student environment, current national & global events, and classroom peace. I do try and have my kids step into their teachers shoes whenever they have a complaint, and we expect our kids to be a help and blessing in the classroom. I admit, though, that the education experience changes significantly (or, at least it has for me), as the children mature into adolescents. We have always taught our kids to think for themselves and not be afraid to express their opinion even if it is not the popular one. Still, one thing that hasnt changed is my responsibility at home- if I feel like something vital is lacking in the classroom, I can make opportunity for it at home. If I am learning anything this school year, it is that I MUST allow for and provide a safe and open forum for discussion at home. And maybe if we look hard enough we will be able to find such opportunities OUTSIDE of the home as well. I hope so, as we are a pretty homogenous group in this house! Anyway- all that to say, #thankyouteachers #gopublic!
