If possible please let the members of your wards and branches know that the movie “Meet the Mormons” is showing Friday Oct 9 and Saturday Oct 10 Albuquerque and Rio Rancho. If possible we would like for the members of the West Stake to attend the Rio Rancho theater if possible. The other two Stakes will most likely support the Albuquerque theater. The show times at the Premiere Cinema 14 at 1000 Premiere Parkway, Rio Rancho, NM 87124 are: 12:15 pm | 2:30 pm | 4:45 pm | 7:00 pm | 9:15 pm I have heard several members say that they will save the money and wait to go see the movie when it comes out on video. That is not the kind of response we are looking for. There is a logistic reason for all of the hoopla and requesting members to attend this movie. In summary it is a marketing issue for the long term placement in various secondary film distribution outlets. It is very important to have a good turnout for the opening showings (Friday and Saturday) so that the movie will be provided in the future on other media outlets like Netflix etc. In addition to securing additional future venues to carry the movie, the initial attendance numbers will help to set a precedence for placement and showing of this type of movie nationwide in the future. The Church produced this movie originally for the visitors center on Temple Square but the responses from selected demographics sample viewings was so positive that the church decided to produce the movie for the general public. We understand that it is an expensive night to take the family to the movies but this would be an expense that could help to initiate a long series of media productions designed to “Bring the Church out of Obscurity” and let the people in our local communities have an opportunity to see a compelling real life portrayal of their neighbors living the Gospel through the trials of everyday life. The production is very moving. I sat through a pre-screening filled with emotion and tears for a majority of the movie. You will definitely go home filled with the Spirit.
